Conference 2000 ----------------------- International School Board Association Throughout the week SSBA has been meeting delegates from around the world who have the same interests as ourselves - children. As parents involved in education we can bring a great deal to the partnership by offering our support to the teachers. We have had so many requests for keeping in touch that it wears well with the concept of the international links which have been made this week turning into a project for developing an international School Board Association. SSBA met with Sam Galbraith, Minister for Education and Children recently and Mr Galbraith was very excited about this concept. Bill Pike of Mitel has offered help in developing any links and both Glasgow City Council and Dumfries and Galloway Council have also offered help. I would like to propose the setting up of an international association for parents in education around the world. The SSBA is happy to act as facilitator in this venture but would also welcome the partnerships around the world. Throughout the week we have been asking guests to fill in an interest and information form and I am delighted to be able to tell you that we have countries interested. |
