Election Statement
Tullynessle Primary School Board
Those of you who have met me over the past years in various School Board contexts in Aberdeenshire (as Chair of local Board, in training sessions, problem solving, face to face and on telephone, school based training, etc.) will know that I am both parent to a 10 year old and with a professional background in education.

I have been Chair of a School Board for 4 years, am now re-elected for 99-03 and will 'Chair' until 2000. My current service with SSBA Executive Board has been since Local Government change, and I hope with your support to continue serving you.

As you will recall, I offered support generally to Aberdeenshire Boards in early 98. This resulted in:
* a gradual spread of problem solving advice;
* pilotted localised training aimed at developing the role of Boards ('How Good is Our School …. Board');
* national training events in Mintlaw, Inverurie and Stonehaven, in Spring 99.

My letter of Jan 2000 offers you expanded support in 3 ways:
* training events in Spring 2000;
* planned area meetings about SSBA and Boards support;
* localised How Good is Our School' type training for single Boards or clusters.
In other words, the overall aim could be simplified down to Improvement of School Boards, to use the current legislative phrasing.

Let me finally focus what sort of Improvement. Certainly a developed partnership with the school in quality and self evaluation, and the use of performance indicators to achieve a local consensus about that.
