Glasgow City - Executive - Scottish Parent Councils Association

I have always been interested in education and have 4 children at various stages of theirs. As a result of this I feel well placed and privileged to represent parents from the city of Glasgow at the Scottish Parents Councils Association. I have been a member of both a Primary and Secondary School Board and I am now a member of Lourdes Secondary Parent Council in Glasgow. I have among other things been quite involved with the changeover from School Boards to Parent Councils and took part in various focus groups e.g. Outside the Box, looking at parental involvement and constitutions for Parent Councils. My hope is that parents are encouraged to become more involved in their child’s education and the life of the school and therefore I would like to think that I could now help influence the creation of a mechanism or mechanisms where this involvement can flourish.

I worked for many years in an accountancy capacity in the food manufacturing and heavy engineering industry and have Business and Management qualifications. I stopped work to spend time raising my 4 children and I currently spend time involved in community voluntary work along with looking after my family.
