Inverclyde - Executive - Scottish Parent Councils Association

Experience: I have served on the School Board of Boglestone Primary [now closed] for 9 years, 7 of these as Chairperson. I am now on Highholm Primary School Board, however was elected Chair of the Interim Board which has been set up to oversee the amalgamation of Boglestone, Highholm and Slaemuir Primaries when the new school is built in 2007.

I am a member of the Local Attendance Council, and also sit on the Appeals Committee.

Presently involved in the Parent Working Group for Citizenship and Enterprise.

I am married; have three children: my sixteen year old son attends Port Glasgow High School, and my 11 year old twin daughters will shortly be joining him from Highholm Primary.

I belong to a group called Inverclyde Heartstart which teaches Emergency Life Support Skills within the Community, I have been a Trainer with the Group for six years, and have just taken over as Co-ordinator. Our project is presently working closely with schools as well as other groups, and for the past two years been involved with the Council/Police Safe Kids Project.

I have been Involved with the Boys Brigade most of my life.

I joined the Executive Board on 27-02-2004 at the AGM.

After Interim Board, I was Invited onto Port Glasgow High Board in Aug 2004 and took over around Jan/Feb 2005. Volunteered to serve on the new Parent Council Port Glasgow High School Aug 2007 and was elected Chairperson. Sit on the Local Volunteer Panel for the IMPETUS Award Scheme. Involved in my Local Authority's Parental Involvement Strategy Group.
