SSBA Parent Councils Survey

Prior to the summer holidays the SSBA carried out a survey to allow us to find out how Parent Councils are
developing in our schools. The results are as follows –

There were 393 responses to our survey. Note – figures rounded to nearest whole number for readability.

There were 3 main questions

Has your Parent Forum agreed that it will

Have a Parent Council .	93%
Not have a Parent Council .	1%
Has not decided .	6%

If your Parent Forum has decided on its Parent Council can you tell us about its proposed functions –

Its functions are the same or similar to a School Board .	36%
It incorporates and represents functions of school board and fundraising elements of a PTA .	50%
Parent Council is made up of sub groups of different functions .	12%
We have adopted another model .	2%

Does your school have a PTA?
